We now have a full class in RH and the children have been enjoying getting to know each other, getting to know the staff and have been exploring the classroom.
Every morning, the children have a number of jobs to complete as part of their learning. The jobs are:
-Put their fruit and book bags in their trays
-Answer the ‘Question of the Day’ by putting their name in the ‘yes’ or ‘no’ box
-Write their name on a laminated piece of card and stick it on the ten frame on the wall titled ‘Who is here today?’

This week we have been following the ‘week one’ menu so next week is ‘week 2’.
Have a great week.

The children have had a super start to their time in RK class. They are remembering the 3 tasks they do in a morning – writing names on fruit, answering the question of the day and putting their name card in the box. They have been busy exploring all the areas inside our classroom and outside. Here a just a selection of what they have been doing…
We are proud of how the children are getting on at lunchtime. They are trying new food, using a knife and fork together, emptying their plates and working hard to remember their manners. They then play outside with lots of other children. School lunch menus are displayed in the cloakroom; we are currently on ‘Week 1’. You can also find the menus on our school website.
Here are a few pictures of the children enjoying lunch…
The children will be given a few letters this week informing you of when PE will start, library etc…
Have a lovely week

In literacy this week, we have been looking at sentence structure and have been writing descriptions. The children have made ‘Who am I?’ sheets with a description of themselves.
In maths, the children have been completing additions using whole-part bar models.
You write the total in the circle on the left and the two numbers that make the total in the circles on the right. This is a method they will use in Year 1 as well as other whole-part models.
We spent the morning in the children’s new classroom on Thursday and they loved it! They seemed very settled and were very excited about the pet gerbils.
Don’t forget is is Reception’s Seaside day on Monday. Families are welcome to join us from 2.30.
The learning logs have now been handed to you to keep. There will be no more homework set this academic year.
Have a great weekend.

This week has been as busy as usual. The children have written about their visit to Year 1 last week and Miss Bray has spent some more time with us getting to know all the children. All the children have practised their reading and have a book to read over the holidays. Please keep practising with them and encourage them to work on their cursive letter formation.
Today Miss Bray took her class on a trip so we were able to go and spend some time in her classroom. The children were very excited and enjoyed using some of the resources in the room. Then they went for their lunch from the classroom and sat were the Year 1 children sit for their lunches. Your child should be able to chat to you about what they did.
One of our focus children has planned a Disney disco for tomorrow. She made a poster and put it in the window instead of sending invitations home. The children can bring Disney clothes for the afternoon if they have them. Please do not go out and buy anything as all the children will be able to join in with the disco. Please remember your picnic food for Monday afternoon and all the grown ups are invited from 2.30pm.
Have a lovely weekend from all the staff in RF.

We had a super day at Harlow Carr and were lucky with the weather. The children started their trip by exploring the different parks practising climbing and balancing skills. We then enjoyed a picnic lunch. The children then met Elizabeth and Miss Acorn who needed help to identify different mini beasts that kept eating her plants. We started by taking turns to pond dip and then we used different nets to collect insects in the tall grasses. The children were such good bug detectives that they found 2 ladybird larvae!
The end of the trip was more eventful than planned but we all got back to school safe and sound. A huge thank you to those parents who helped us throughout the day and particularly thanks to Frederike’s mama and Noah’s mummy who stayed a little longer than planned!

We’ve had a bit of a different week in RH this week.
On Wednesday, the children took part in Sports Day and they thoroughly enjoyed it. They loved taking part in the racing and were all very proud of their efforts. They also took the friendly competition in their stride and were pleased whatever place they came in the races. Thank you to everyone that came to watch and helped to make it a special day.
On Thursday, the children spent the morning in their Year 1 classroom. They got to spend time with their new teachers, Mrs Galbraith and Mr Garlick and they also met Mrs Booth who is the class teaching assistant. The children all came back smiling and were very excited about the new toys and areas to play in.
The rest of the week, the children have been continuing to practise counting in 10s and completing activities around this. They have also been writing recounts of their trip to the park. Some examples:
Have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday.
