This week the children have been exploring both the indoor and outdoor environments. We have reintroduced play dough and all the children are keen to join in the activity. Due to the current restrictions we have made five different coloured batches of dough, one for each day of the week. This means that the dough has seven days to recover! Have a look at some more things the children have been doing in our indoor provision…
The children have enjoyed playing out this week in the varied weather conditions we have had. We play out in all weathers so please ensure your child is dressed appropriately. You can send a pair of named wellies to keep in Nursery but we do have a supply of spare ones for the children to use. Have a look at some of the things the children have been doing in our outdoor provision…
This week the children have been listening and joining in with “Big pig on a dig”. This is another rhyming story with lots of opportunities to talk about what is happening and try to complete the rhyming words.
This week’s task…
The children are trying really hard to put their coats on themselves. Well done for supporting them at home with this. Please continue to encourage them to be independent. As the weather gets colder and wetter some children change into wellies when they go to play outside. Could you support them to practice taking shoes off and putting them on again. You will soon realise that this is quite tricky and shoes with velcro fastenings are much easier than those with laces.
Have a good weekend, from the Nursery team.

This week the children have been able to show us how well they have settled into school routines. We have had little or no tears coming into school and none throughout the day. The children have already made some lovely friendship groups and are showing their abilities to interact and take turns.
The children have been showing the grown-ups what they already know. The adults have been really impressed with the children’s number and letter knowledge.
PE has started! Both classes enjoyed their first PE session. Lots of the children are still struggling to get changed before and after PE. Can you please continue to practise this at home. We also ask that all items are clearly labelled so we can ensure the correct items are returned.
Communication books have been sent home today. You will find a task to be completed by next Friday (2nd October) please.
Thank you to all parents/carers for your support.

We have had such a lovely week getting to know all the new children. They are settling well and beginning to show their personalities. Have a look at some of the things they have been doing…
This week we have a task for you and your child!
Please help your child to practise putting their coat on and taking it off independently. Encourage them to hold the sleeves when they take the coat off so that it is ready when they want to put it on again. Children who can do this themselves for playing out are often rewarded with a sticker.
The children have been coping very well going to the toilet independently. At this time of year there are always accidents! Could you please send a change of clothing in a named bag to keep on their peg in case of accidents. We do have some clothes but often they go home and not returned so our stocks are depleted. Could you also supply wipes and carrier bags or nappy sacks to put wet clothes into. We used to have a supply of carrier bags but now when we all try to recycle and reuse we don’t have any to use.
A story to share
This week we have been reading this story. Can you watch it with your child? It’s good to ask them questions about the story and the pictures. This is a rhyming book so you could pause it before the end of the sentence and see if your child can fill in the missing word.
Our birthday wall
In Nursery we have a birthday wall and the children have all decorated a bee to put in the relevant month hive. We would like to make this more of a display for the children by adding photographs of things they have done on their birthday. It would be lovely if you could send in 3 or 4 photos so we can talk to the children about their celebrations and they can show their friends.
Have a lovely weekend, from the Nursery team.

This week the children have continued to learn the rules and routines. They are settling in well and building new friendships too.
The learning hives
The children have been busy creating their own bees and learning about the learning hives:
The children have enjoyed looking in a mirror and painting a self portrait of themselves too!
Exploring the areas
We are all enjoying exploring the indoor and outdoor areas. We have really enjoyed planting and watering the flowers in the outdoor area too.
We visit the library every Friday. The children have enjoyed listening to a story in the library and choosing a book too. Please make sure that books are returned next week Friday.
A few children have lost their jumper. One of the jumpers has the child’s name inside. Please check at home and return to Miss Pinnock (RPK) thank you.
We hope you have a great weekend.

Welcome to the Nursery blog. Each week we will post photos and let you know what your children have been doing in Nursery.
The children have only been here a few days but already they are beginning to settle and get used to the routines. Have a look at some of the things they have been doing…
We are really looking forward to seeing what the children will do next week!
Have a lovely weekend, from the Nursery Team.

We have had a successful first week in Reception. Our stay and play sessions proved to be a great opportunity for the children and carers to meet the teachers in person and visit the classrooms.
After the stay and play sessions the children were excited to be Reception. We are really pleased with how all the children have come into school and settled straight into life at Farsley Farfield.
Here are a few pictures of the children settling in.
Just to let you know ParentPay will be set up next week for all children in Reception.
We are no longer using Tapestry in Reception and further information on the new system will follow shortly.
We hope you have a great weekend.
