Another busy week in Nursery!
In Numeracy we have been learning all about number 2. The children listened to the story of Puppy Number 2. He is yellow and his favourite shape is a rectangle. Can you ask your child to look for rectangles around your home? See if they can tell you about the number 2 and Puppy Number 2.
We have been reading the story of the Gruffalo this week. This is a story the children really enjoy. If you have a copy at home it would be lovely if you can read it with your child and ask them lots of questions.
Last week some of the children went on a walk around our beautiful grounds. The rest of the children explored the grounds on Monday. Have a look at the photos of all the things we have done in Nursery this week…
Enjoy the long weekend, from the Nursery staff.

This week the children have been working on their sentence writing. We have learned the tricky word ‘they’ and the graphemes/phonemes for ‘or’ and ‘ur’.
This week the children have worked really hard with recognising numbers to 20. They have looked at number 13 and 14 in more detail and we are super impressed with some of the facts the children found out. “6 and 6 and 1 and 1 makes 14.” “7 and 7 makes 14.” “10 and 4 makes 14.”
Have a lovely bank holiday and we will see you all on Tuesday.

This week we introduced the tricky word ‘was’. We learned the phonemes ‘oa’ and ‘ar’. We have continued to practise our reading and writing skills.
This week we have focused on numbers to 20 and beyond. We have represented our numbers of the day 11 and 12 in different ways too. We have played games using 2 10 frames and 20 cubes. Please keep practising forming numbers to 20.
This week the children have enjoyed planting sunflower seeds and seeing their friends again! We have learned all about growing plants and what they need to grow.
In Maths next week we will continue exploring numbers to 20 and beyond. We will focus on recognising numbers 11-20 and we will practise writing the digits too.
In phonics we will be learning the tricky word ‘they’ and focusing on the phonemes ‘or’ and ‘ur’.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!

This week the weather has been beautiful and we have really enjoyed being outside. The children have helped to look after all of our Spring bedding plants and have weeded the vegetable plot. We’ve been on a walk around the school grounds. This felt like “Going to another country” as one parent told me his daughter had described the walk. Due to the Covid restrictions our children have had limited access to the fantastic facilities we have here at Farsley Farfield so going on an exploratory walk of the grounds was a wonderful experience for them. Let’s hope we can now make full use of all the wonderful grounds we have.
Have a look at the variety of other things we have been doing as well as spending lots of time outside…
As we move into the warmer and sunny weather a few parents have asked about suntan cream. We would prefer if you purchase the type that lasts all day and apply before your child comes to Nursery. We can support them to re-apply if necessary but as you can imagine if all the children bring in a bottle it can be quite a task. Thank you for your help on this matter.
Have a lovely weekend in the sunshine and see you next week, from the Nursery team.

What a lovely week we have had! The weather some days has been beautiful and although we play outside in all weathers it has been lovely to not have to wrap up against the elements.
Over the last few weeks we have been learning about the number 1. After the Easter holidays we will move on to number 2. Over the holidays if you are out and about and in your homes as well, encourage your child to go on a number 2 hunt. You could take photos and upload them on to EExAT so we can talk about them with your child when we return.
We have been doing lots of Phase 1 phonics in Nursery and on the lockdown blogs. Here are some links to previous activities to reinforce the strands.
A few things we have done this week…

Fun on the Farm
It is lovely to see all of your learning and interests from home on EExAT please keep uploading them. If you are having any issues logging into your account please email your class teacher.
Tricky words are much harder to learn. Please practise writing the tricky words in your child’s communication book. You can also sing along to these videos or go on a word hunt too!
We hope you have a lovely Easter break.
