Day 29 (Mon 22/2) – Lockdown blog

Sunday 21st February | 1 comment

We hope you have all had a relaxing half term break! Please see Monday’s home learning below – enjoy!

Daily Challenge

Today we are going to have a ‘tricky word’ disco. If you are able to attend the live sessions, you will need some paper and a pen. We are going to revise the ‘tricky words’ we have learned so far and have a go at writing them.

Today we will be reviewing some of our previously learned number and shape, space and measure. Please have your whiteboard ready for some maths games too!

Please keep practising your number bonds. Watch this number blocks clip all about part whole models.

Please read daily by logging onto Simply enter your teacher code and select your name.

You could play a game on phonics play! Log in for free with the username: jan21. Password: home . You should also receive a reading book inside your pack.

Expressive Arts and Design

Elmer lives in the jungle with lots of other animals. Can you think of any other animals that live in the jungle? Use junk materials to make an animal.

Nursery Learning

Over the next two weeks we will be learning all about the number 1. We spend quite a long time on each number to ensure the children have a thorough knowledge and understanding of each number. This approach is followed throughout school and is called The Mastery approach.

To get you started have a watch of this video clip…

Here is a story about numbers and colours you might like…

Which is your favourite colour? Can you draw a picture of yourself using only your favourite colour and put it on EExAT for us to see?

Can you sing lots of number rhymes this week. Ask your grown up to look at the previous blogs to see which ones you know. Can you remember 5 Little Ducks or 5 current buns?

Physical development

It is very important you try to stay active when you are not in Nursery. Try to go for lots of walks outside with you family. When you are inside can you crawl around on your front using your arms and shoulders to move you along? Practise slithering, jumping and going backwards. Ask an adult to help you practise walking up and down the stairs. Can you use alternate feet?

Rhyming is a very important part of reading. Can you have fun with rhyming strings—sat, mat, ? I bet you can think of some funny ones! And here is a rhyming story to listen to. Can you fill in the rhyming words?
