Today we are continuing to look at the ‘ee’ phoneme/grapheme. We will be focusing on writing words that contain ‘ee’. You will need your day 33 sheet for today’s phonics session.

Maths

Today we will be learning our number bonds to 10. Please have your day 32 sheet ready.

We will begin with ordering and writing missing numbers. You will need your whiteboard and pen for today’s live lesson too. You can also complete day 33 maths sheet after the session.

Please keep practising counting to 100.

Physical Development

Practise using scissors—Find some pictures to cut out of magazines and catalogues. Remember to hold them with your thumb through one space and two fingers through the other.

Phonics

Children begin to recognise their names and logos before they begin to recognise individual letters. Support your child to look in newspapers, magazines and catalogues for any advertising logos they recognise. They could practise their cutting skills by making a collage with some of the logos they recognise. When you are out and about ask them if they can tell you which logos they know, most children will recognise ‘Asda’!

In the latest learning pack you will find a pair of listening ears. Support your child to cut them out and attach them to a band. Can they go around the house listening for different sounds?

Over the next two weeks we will be learning all about the number 1. We spend quite a long time on each number to ensure the children have a thorough knowledge and understanding of each number. This approach is followed throughout school and is called The Mastery approach.

Physical development

It is very important you try to stay active when you are not in Nursery. Try to go for lots of walks outside with you family. When you are inside can you crawl around on your front using your arms and shoulders to move you along? Practise slithering, jumping and going backwards. Ask an adult to help you practise walking up and down the stairs. Can you use alternate feet?

Phonics

Rhyming is a very important part of reading. Can you have fun with rhyming strings—sat, mat, ? I bet you can think of some funny ones! And here is a rhyming story to listen to. Can you fill in the rhyming words?

As it is the last day of term, we thought it would be a good idea to set a weekly challenge. Over the next few days we would like you to collect lots of natural items, while out on your family walks. We then challenge you to create a piece of natural art. You might like to research Andy Goldsworthy to gain further ideas. Please upload any photos onto your EExAT account for us to see.

Today we are going to continue to learn about the ‘ng’ phoneme. We will practise forming the letter shapes, write a word containing ‘ng’ and then have a go at writing a sentence.
