Our First Trip!

The highlight of our week was our first school trip. All staff were very impressed with how well behaved the children were.
The children made a magic wand, created some natural art, made their own birds nest and decorated some delicious biscuits. We were lucky to have had such fantastic weather meaning we even managed to have our picnic outside.
We would all like to say a huge thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to help on our trip. We would not have been able to go without your support.
This week in phonics we have introduced tricky work ‘the’ and the sounds ‘ck’ and ‘e’. The children now know all three ways of making the /c/ sound (c, k and ck)!
In Maths this week we have been comparing numbers. We are really focusing on numbers 1-5 trying to ensure that the children have a secure understanding of these numbers.
The children used the language of ‘more than’, ‘fewer than’ and ‘the same as’. Some children extended this learning and began to discuss ‘equal’.
Whilst playing in the bubbles this week one child told her friend that she has painted with bubbles at home. We did some research and decided to do our own bubble art. The children had lots of fun but made a huge mess! Luckily lots of the children in reception are very good at tidying up so they soon had the classroom cleaned up.
Thank you for all of your support during our first half term. Have a fabulous holiday!
