Our First Farm Trip!
We are starting this week’s blog with a few photos from the previous week. We had so much to put on our blog that we missed out our trip to the farm! We are very lucky to have such a fabulous resource available to us and the children enjoyed making the most of it during last week’s sunny weather. We explored the polytunnels, investigated the different fruits and vegetables and of course said hello to the chickens!
A lot of families have very kindly sent photographs in for the children to share with their friends. We are really enjoying finding out more about each other’s lives. Thank you to those people who have already sent in photographs. If anyone else would like to send in photos we would love to share them and add them to our family photo boards.
This week we have looked at letters and words. We have introduced the letter names and phonemes (sounds) for: s, t and a.
We have attached a video to watch at home.
This week in maths we have focused on the numbers 1 and 2. We have looked at the numerals and the value of each number.
We have attached some video for you to watch at home.
This week in PE we have introduced the children to different apparatus. We have had lots of fun experimenting with jumping, throwing, balancing and dancing.
Outside whatever the weather!
The has been a little wet this week but nothing stops us from going outside!
Thank you for another fabulous week. We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Another busy week! The children are beginning to settle and make friends. They are investigating all the areas of provision and finding out what they like to play with. Have a look at a few of the things they have been doing…
Most children will have an accident at some point and forget to go to the toilet. Lots of parents have sent spare clothes in a bag to keep on the child’s coat peg. This is a big help as we do have some clothing but it is limited. It would be even more of a help if you could also pop a carrier bag or nappy sacks in as these days we do not have access to many carrier bags for wet clothes. It would also be a good idea to send spare socks as they can often get wet and we do not have any spare ones.
Have a good weekend, from the Nursery team.

The highlight of the week for most children was our first PE lesson. The children tried their best to get changed independently and to keep track of their own belongings. This can be really tricky with 30 children so please do make sure all items of clothing are clearly labelled.
We had lots of fun exploring some new equipment and developing our understanding of safe PE lessons. The children discussed rules and were very sensible during the lesson.
In Maths we have started to introduce some counting and sorting skills. The children have enjoyed joining in with counting songs. Here are some you may enjoy at home.
We have read Anno’s Counting Book and The Button Box and enjoyed exploring number and pattern through the stories.
We have also started our phonics lessons this week. We have focused on listening skills. The children have been trying to identify sounds including animals, vehicles and instruments. You could try discussing familiar sounds at home. Was that sound loud or quiet? Was it a short sound or a long sound? Can we copy that sound?
Ahoy There Pirates!
The children found some really exciting pirate books this week and decided to make their own telescopes, eye patches and treasure maps.
All of the children have taken home a library book today. Please make sure these books are looked after and enjoyed with friends and family at home. Library books will need to be returned every Friday.
Have a lovely weekend,

All the children have started Nursery now and are beginning to settle and make friends. They are discovering lots of new things and having new experiences.
Here are a few photos of what has been happening so far…
The children enjoy having their fruit and regularly receive free fruit. We also ask each child bring one piece of fruit each week. This fruit is communal and goes into the bowl for all the children to choose from. Some children have been bringing pots of fruit and this has been causing a few small problems as other children are choosing to eat this. The staff cannot be at the snack table all the time so we would ask that you send whole pieces so that children are not upset if their pot has been eaten.
Thank you for your support and have a lovely weekend from the Nursery team.

We have finished our first full week in reception and what a week it has been.
We have made lots of new friends and we are all starting to remember each others names. Can your child remember who they have played with this week?
We have been painting, singing, playing outside and lots more. Here are some photos of our busy week.
Next week we will do our first PE lesson on Friday. The children will all need a pair shorts and a T Shirt (with names in) to change into.
The children have all settled in really well and we are sure to have a successful year. Thank you for all of your continued support.

It’s nearly time to start reception!
We hope you have all had a super holiday and are ready to start your biggest adventure yet. We have been working hard making sure the classrooms are ready and now they are just missing one thing; children!
Here are some photographs of our classrooms. There are lots of new areas ready to explore.
We have made a short video to play to your child. We’re not sure Cbeebies will be offering us a job anytime soon but hopefully it should remind your child of who their teacher is and ease any last-minute nerves.
Those first day of school photographs are such an important memory so we have set up a little photo station to help you out. The board will be updated daily so that all our new starters have a memory of their special day. We would love to see your fabulous photos!
When you come into school you should look for your peg label in the cloakroom, put your fruit in your tray and your teacher will help you get started.
If you have any last minute queries or questions please feel free to either comment on the blog or email.
