Happy Easter!

Thursday 29th March | 3 comments

Well Spring is well under way and we have now reached the end of our second term. We think the children have worked so hard on becoming more independent, solving minor conflicts and remembering their manners. We think they deserve a holiday!

In our phonic sessions we have been sounding out simple CVC words and the children are very good at hearing the words. They are working hard trying to break words up and they are brilliant at rhyming and have started making up rhyming strings. After the holidays we will start learning some letter sounds as well as practising our sounding out, segmenting and blending.

We have been learning about the number 5 and what 5 is and how to record it – 5 circles, 5 lines and writing the number 5. We also went on an Easter egg hunt and had to count all the eggs and find out if we had enough for 1 each or 2 each! We counted 2 lots of 24 eggs so we all got 2 each. Great problem solving.

In between learning our numbers and phonics we have been busy discussing the Easter story and how Christians celebrate Easter, making Easter cards and Easter nests, rainbow toast, treasure maps and hunt aboard the pirate ship and  playing with our friends…

Easter Egg Competition

Well done to everyone who entered the competition. Well done to Caitlin and Frederike who won from Nursery.

We are hoping to do some gardening work in outdoor area after the holidays, so if you have any spare large plant pots, compost or plants you’d like to donate we would be very grateful.

Have a fantastic 2 weeks, we look forward to seeing you on Monday 16th April.

Sounds like the kids have had lots of fun this week, needless to say eating chocolate was Cate’s favourite bit of the week…. Cate wanted to choose an emoji ?

  3. Carolyn (Emily and Leah's mum) says:

Leah’s had a fun term. She’s enjoyed learning to sound out (although sometimes the sounds don’t quite match the words) which made for an interesting eye spy! she’s also liking counting and seems to be recognising more and more numbers. Hope you all have a lovely break.
