Are Monsters arriving in Nursery?

Friday 19th January | 3 comments

We have had such a busy week in Nursery – snow, gingerbread men, buns, monster cafe!

The children have enjoyed seeing so many different kinds of weather this week from rain, sun and rainbows to snow! We had fun sledging down the hill!

Wednesday saw the start of our stay and read sessions. It was lovely to see so many parents. Please feel free to come as and when you like, babies and toddlers are welcome too. Stay and read is on from 8.45-9.15 and 12.30-1pm. If your child doesn’t attend Nursery on a Wednesday then feel free to come another day.

This week saw the start of the children trying to make marks and attempt writing their name with support. The children are working hard to hold their pen or pencil correctly (using 2 fingers) and either make a mark, write the first letter or 2 or their whole name. Well done Nursery!

The children have been doing a lot of baking this week. We started making buns some plain, some with raisins and bananas in. By the end of the week we all made a gingerbread man as we had enjoyed reading the story a lot. We also made pasta and ate it with a tomato and herb sauce. After making so much food I said “It’s like we have been a restaurant or cafe all week”. This prompted lots of conversations about having a cafe. The children have named it ‘Monster Cafe’ although they wanted to make sure everyone knew it won’t have real monsters in it! So next Friday we will be serving afternoon tea. More details to follow.

We have also started our ‘Art Gallery’. The children have been keen to learn different painting techniques. This has included mixing shades of blue, a cold colour and then drawing a picture using a black pen and then using powder paints to carefully colour it in. We hope to expand the pictures in the art gallery over the next few weeks.

We wish you a wonderful weekend, watch out for the snow!
