Gruffalo Hunting at Blackhills Campsite

Thursday 20th October | 4 comments

The children had a fabulous day in the woods yesterday completing lots of activities based on the story ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson. The children rotated around four activities.

The four activities were:

Designing a Gruffalo on a biscuit

Hunting for animals from the story

Making homes for the animals to live in

Designing a piece of artwork using nature  in the style of Andrew Goldsworthy

At the end of the afternoon, Mrs Fulton read the story of ‘The Gruffalo’ as the children walked through the woods. Suddenly they bumped into an unexpected visitor…

The Gruffalo was feeling very sad as nobody wanted to speak to him because he looked scary. The children all said they would be his friend and decided that he may look scary, but he’s actually really shy and very kind.

We  had a lovely day and the children were enthusiastic and extremely well behaved. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped us today – we couldn’t have done it without you.
