Nursery snack time

Thursday 26th November | 4 comments

On Wednesday we introduced a new snack time routine. Instead of us all sitting in a group and having snack we are encouraging the children to be more independent. We now have our own snack table where there are some cups, a jug of water and a jug of milk. The children are reminded frequently to have fruit and milk/water when they are hungry or thirsty. They then make a mark against which fruit they have eaten and this gives us a great maths opportunity to count the marks to find out the most popular fruit that session.
By encouraging the children to have snack this way it actually gives them more playing and learning time as we aren’t stopping them just as they get involved or busy doing something.

Great idea. Aayush wants to pour his own drink at home (few spills) but never mind all part of learning
