A star fell from the sky!
Tuesday 24th November | No comments yet
A very exciting thing happened today in Reception! The children found a letter which told them that a star had fallen from the sky. Could the children find it and help it to return home? The children talked about where it had come from and how they could help it to get home.
The children will be planning and making machines to help it return into space.
In Literacy the children are going to write letters to the star once it has returned to space. They will be looking for stars hidden around the room with tricky words to read and writing about the star on special star paper!
In Phonics most children will be learning x, y, z and zz. Mrs Fulton’s group will continue to revise some more of the sounds and Miss Hutchinson’s group will be learning oo, ar, or, and ur. This week’s tricky word is ‘he’.
In Maths the children will be continuing to develop their counting skills and also learning about repeating patterns. They will use familiar objects and common shapes to create and recreate patterns.
Don’t forget on Thursday 26th we will be holding two ‘Maths is Fun!’ sessions. Both sessions will be the same and are at 3.30 – 4.00pm and 7.00 – 7.30pm. Please try to make one of them as you will learn about fun activities you can do at home with your child and will receive a pack of fun maths activities and ideas.
Thank you for all the baby photographs sent in this week. There is still time to send one in if you haven’t already.
