A great big thank you from all the Nursery staff for the many lovely gifts and cards. We cannot believe how quickly this year has passed and how far the children have come since September. Good luck to all the children whether they are remaining in Nursery to become “The Big Ones”, going to a new school or moving into our reception classes. Have a lovely summer.
From Mrs Fulton, Mrs Myers and Mrs Spencer.

Well we have come to the end of your children’s Reception year. It has been a fantastic year and the children will take lots of happy memories with them in to Year 1. We definitely think Mrs Galbraith, Mrs James and Miss Sedman are very lucky to have such a wonderful group of children to work with in September.
Thank you for all your support, for your thoughtful cards and gestures.
We hope you have a super summer!

No it was just our pyjama party last week! We all wore our PJ’s and the children brought their teddy bears. We enjoyed lots of stories and then went on to the field to play with the parachute. Then we had a picnic and ended with a surprise present.

Well who could believe that your child’s time in Reception is nearly over?! It has been a fantastic year and the children have learnt so much and become so independent and grown up!
This week we are continuing to work on individual Maths and Literacy targets. This is the last week of guided and individual reading so please make sure you pass your reading comment sheets to the class teacher. It is really important for us to know how your child reads at home. The children will also be finishing their school report ready for you to read! Even though it is the end of term there is still lots of reading, writing and maths activities that need completing.
Please make sure your child comes to school in their team colours. There will be an opening ceremony first thing on Thursday on the North playground this will then be followed by Reception and Nursery Races. We estimate the formal races should take just under an hour. If it is forecast warm weather then please make sure your child has sun cream on and a water bottle.
Have a great week, enjoy the sunshine!

Today we have shared the story ‘The Fish Who Could Wish’. It is about a fish who could wish for anything! We talked about the wishes the children had for Year 1. Some children wished they could be better at maths, reading, a faster runner, a King, a Princess and lots more! To read your child’s wish please come and see them displayed outside 1D. This work linked very well to this week’s ethos statement which is – ‘My past was good. My future is better’. The children have all thought about what they have been good at in Reception and what they would like to improve or be good at in Year 1. Thank you to those children who shared their thoughts in assembly this afternoon.
In Mathematics we are working on our individual Maths targets. Your child’s targets are displayed in each classroom if you are unsure of what they are. We are also using our skills to solve addition and subtraction calculations. The children will also be practicing ordering and writing numbers from 20-30.
Don’t forget Sports Day is on Thursday 17th July. Letters went out on Friday about what team your child is in and what country they are representing. If you are not sure please ask. If it is wet then the revised day is Monday 21st July.
Don’t forget your child needs a sun hat and sun cream for the warm weather.
Have a super week.

This morning RC have been on a fantastic seaside adventure. The children met lots of characters including old tom, a skipper and a beautiful Ocean Queen! The children wholeheartedly threw themselves into the role-play mind set and produced some fantastic work. A big thank you to Alive and Kicking for making it such an enjoyable morning. Have a look at the video below to find out what we got upto…

Everyone was very excited on Wednesday as it was pour very own Tour de France stage for Nursery children. They had to g peddle or scoot across the Junior playground and back again as fast as they could. The fastest time was just 29 seconds! Other children were slower because they forgot to turn around and race back again.Everyone tried their best and had fun taking part.

This week we have been learning about capacity and what the word means. We set up a race to see which team could fill their bucket up first. The challenge was for the children to choose a container which had a large capacity. The only problem was some large buckets and holes and cracks in!
