Caterpillar munching in RS and RC..
Wednesday 4th June | No comments yet
We hope you have has a great half term, it was a shame about the weather! The end of the Reception year is nearly upon us, the last few months have whizzed past!
This week we are reading the book ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. The children are being encouraged to create a story map so they can retell the story to their friends. All the children will be writing a sentence about the caterpillar independently. This will help assess your child’s writing ability and set new writing targets. They will need to remember their Kung Fu punctuation – capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Creatively the children can make a moving caterpillar and caterpillar collage. There is also the opportunity to sequence the life cycle of a caterpillar.
In Mathematics we are revising our doubles and solving addition problems. If 1 caterpillar has 2 eyes how many eyes will 2 caterpillars have? Some children are starting to double numbers from 6-10 – fantastic! Please don’t forget to keep practising your child’s maths targets at home. The final assessments for your child will take place in the next couple of weeks.
Our new outdoor area is complete and the children have been so excited to try it out. We are in need of things for our ‘den making’ shed so if you have any items you don’t want and you think they would be of use then lest us know.
Thank you for your support. Enjoy the rest of your week.
