This week we introduced the children to some shape resources and let them investigate them independently as well as supporting them to use them and modelling making patterns. The children really enjoyed this resource and lots of them were able to name some of the shapes they used. Some children made simple patterns whilst others spent a long time making very intricate designs…
Shape work was also evident in other areas of provision..
Other children were interested in numbers this week…
Earlier in the week some children went on a walk around our school grounds to look at the changes which happen in Autumn…
The children later made pictures using leaves they found and conkers children had collected on their walks at home…
This weekend you could go on a walk with your child and look at the changes which happen in Autumn. You could collect leaves to use for leaf printing next week in Nursery.
Have a lovely weekend, from the Nursery team.

This week in Phonics we have learnt the tricky work ‘to’. We have focused on the phonemes for m, d and g. Try asking your child if they can remember the actions. If they can’t, don’t worry. We have attached a video to help you.
Maths has been lots of fun! The children have been looking at lots of different ways to represent the number 5. We have had lots of sorting activities which have supported the children to group by; colour, shape, size and so on. You may like to have a go at home too.
We had lots of fun during PE. The children played different games using a parachute.
Can we please ask parents to support their children in learning how to dress and undress as we are still taking quite a long time.
This week the children have shown an interest in the different seasons. We discussed all four seasons before focusing on Autumn. The children enjoyed creating their own Autumn themed pictures and hunting for Autumn treasures.
Lots of children are excited to visit Leeds Light Night. We would love to see the photos. Whatever you are doing we hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

Another busy week!
This week the children have had lots of opportunities to develop their mark making skills. Some children have been practising the initial letter of their name whilst others have been making big marks on big paper. Other children used boxes to make pirate ships inside and then outside. Have a look at the photos of all these activities and other things the children have been doing…
As we move into the colder weather the children need to be wrapped up when they go out to play. We encourage the children to hang their coats up independently and then be able to put them on themselves and fasten them up. We always support the children in this but aim for them to do these tasks for themselves. Please practise independence skills at home and when you drop your child off and collect from Nursery. Thank you for your support.
Have a good weekend, from the Nursery team.

The children have been very thoughtful this week and have been considering how they can cheer up children who are in hospital over Christmas. They have contacted a local charity and are going to try and collect as many toys as possible. They found a large box to collect toys, wrote letters to their friends and made posters to explain their plan. There is a box in RB if anyone would like to donate. Unfortunately, these toys do have to be brand new for them to be accepted by the charity. All donations will be gratefully received.
Worms, worms and more worms!
This week the children have been worm mad! We have made our own ‘Worm World’ and enjoyed watching them travel around it.
As well as looking at habitats we have also discovered that their favourite food is waste! We have collected left over food from the kitchen to keep our worms full and healthy.
The children enjoyed observing the worms and drawing their own interpretation of our ‘Worm World’.
The children watched a video which explained where worms live, what they eat and how they move!
This week in Phonics we have learn the tricky word ‘I’. The children practised writing it and saying it in a sentence.
We have introduced the phonemes; p, i and n. The children are very proud of their ever increasing phonic knowledge.
This week in maths we have focused on the numbers 3 and 4. We have practised forming the numerals as well as investigating how to show each number in different ways.
We all had lots of fun building a race track and directing the Beebots around.
Letters have been sent home today to book your parents evening appointments. We look forward to meeting you all.
Have a lovely weekend.

Another varied week in Nursery! The children have continued to develop their friendships and explore the Nursery environment. They have been climbing, hiding, building, cutting and drawing. They have been inside, outside and having fun in the hall. Have a look at some of the photos we have taken…
It has been a very wet week this week and will probably continue to be so. The children have access to the environment everyday no matter what the weather is like. Lots of children have brought their own wellies but we also have our own supply. If you send wellies please write your child’s name in them and familiarise them with what they look like. If they come to Nursery in wellies please change them into shoes for playing inside as wellies are not ideal to wear all day inside. Thank you for your support with this.
Have a good weekend

Our First Farm Trip!
We are starting this week’s blog with a few photos from the previous week. We had so much to put on our blog that we missed out our trip to the farm! We are very lucky to have such a fabulous resource available to us and the children enjoyed making the most of it during last week’s sunny weather. We explored the polytunnels, investigated the different fruits and vegetables and of course said hello to the chickens!
A lot of families have very kindly sent photographs in for the children to share with their friends. We are really enjoying finding out more about each other’s lives. Thank you to those people who have already sent in photographs. If anyone else would like to send in photos we would love to share them and add them to our family photo boards.
This week we have looked at letters and words. We have introduced the letter names and phonemes (sounds) for: s, t and a.
We have attached a video to watch at home.
This week in maths we have focused on the numbers 1 and 2. We have looked at the numerals and the value of each number.
We have attached some video for you to watch at home.
This week in PE we have introduced the children to different apparatus. We have had lots of fun experimenting with jumping, throwing, balancing and dancing.
Outside whatever the weather!
The has been a little wet this week but nothing stops us from going outside!
Thank you for another fabulous week. We hope you have a lovely weekend.
