Pancakes in Nursery

Tuesday was Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day. It is the day before Ash Wednesday which marks the start of Lent in the Christian calendar.

Traditionally people would eat pancakes on this day to get rid of any fatty foods before the 40-day fasting season of Lent began. In the past Christians would forego foods containing fat, eggs, milk or meat during Lent.

The Nursery children enjoyed making and eating pancakes on Tuesday!

First the children added the flour…
Next came the eggs…
Then the milk…
The children whisked the ingredients to make batter…
The batter was cooked in a hot pan…
Traditionally pancakes are tossed…
Finally the children tried the pancakes…
They all seemed to enjoy trying them!

Perhaps you could have a go at making them at home this weekend.

Have Fun!

From the Nursery team.
