Pirates, bubbles and PE!
Friday 20th September | 4 comments
The highlight of the week for most children was our first PE lesson. The children tried their best to get changed independently and to keep track of their own belongings. This can be really tricky with 30 children so please do make sure all items of clothing are clearly labelled.
We had lots of fun exploring some new equipment and developing our understanding of safe PE lessons. The children discussed rules and were very sensible during the lesson.
In Maths we have started to introduce some counting and sorting skills. The children have enjoyed joining in with counting songs. Here are some you may enjoy at home.
We have read Anno’s Counting Book and The Button Box and enjoyed exploring number and pattern through the stories.
We have also started our phonics lessons this week. We have focused on listening skills. The children have been trying to identify sounds including animals, vehicles and instruments. You could try discussing familiar sounds at home. Was that sound loud or quiet? Was it a short sound or a long sound? Can we copy that sound?
Ahoy There Pirates!
The children found some really exciting pirate books this week and decided to make their own telescopes, eye patches and treasure maps.
All of the children have taken home a library book today. Please make sure these books are looked after and enjoyed with friends and family at home. Library books will need to be returned every Friday.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Reception Team
