Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We hope you have had a super 2 week holiday. The children have certainly come back enthusiastic and ready to learn!

We have spent a lot of time talking about what they enjoyed about their time off school and exploring what the word ‘enjoyed’ means. They have told us of the places and things they have done as well as their favourite gifts. All of the children have written in their Busy Bee books.

In maths, we have been looking at the numbers to 10, counting objects from a large group and ordering numbers. The children are getting quicker at ordering numbers up to 20 as well as learning strategies of how to count objects from a large group accurately. They played a good game where they had to look at ordering numbers from the smallest to the largest that were necessarily in numerical order

On the fine motor skills table this week has been a 2D shape activity. The children needed to use their upper arm strength to hammer the nails in to the shapes to create a picture. Over the week, the pictures have become more detailed. All the children were able to tell us something about the shapes they had used.

The rest of the week has included baking, making pizza, describing the word ‘winter’, making super models, being creative, reading our new annuals, practising number formation and playing outside

Monday 14th January

We are very lucky to have some balance bike training and the use of 10 balance bikes. We have observed all the children on balance bikes and for those children who lack confidence they will get the opportunity to be a part of this training.

It has been a busy first week back. Enjoy the weekend.
