We have well and truly entered the Christmas spirit in RK. The children are enjoying decorating the tree and making their own patterned baubles.
This week the children have learnt about 2D shapes and had fun trying to make some shapes in teams using string, they also enjoyed a game of shape bingo!
The children used their knowledge of 2D shapes to create their Christmas cards. Different shapes were used to create characters, Santa, reindeer, Christmas trees and lots more!
The children have also been choosing to use their maths skills around the classroom.
This week has been busy with concert rehearsals. The children are doing well learning the songs and remembering when to go on stage. We look forward to seeing you on either Tuesday morning or Thursday afternoon. The performances will be held in the North building. If you have been asked to provide any clothing please ensure it is put in your child’s tray by Monday 10th December.
A huge thank you from Annie and all of us in RK as she has raised almost £19 to go and buy some toys for children who are less fortunate. We will keep you posted on what we buy and where we send the gifts. Isobel who has planned some fun games and ball skills will deliver Friday’s PE lesson. Although the weather has been wet, the children have still loved using chalk to write words and explore outside in the rain!
The rest of the week:
Please can we ask that you ensure your child’s clothing has their name in everything! We are doing many clothing changes over the next few days and it is very difficult to identify tops, tights and trousers when they don’t have names in them.
Have a super weekend

The children have learnt the phonemes /v/ and /w/ this week.
This week we have looked at 2D shapes. We have discussed the difference between 2D and 3D shapes and have been finding simple 2D shapes in the environment, including circles, squares, rectangles, triangles and ovals. The children have also been using language to describe shapes, such as ‘it has 4 equal sides’ and so on.
The children have loved playing this game.
Our Christmas performances are next Tuesday (9.30) and Thursday (2.00). On Monday, the children will be completing a dress rehearsal for the children in KS1. If you haven’t done so already, please can you bring in any costume items that have been requested. It will either be black tights for sheep or white tights for angels.
Trip to Abbey House
Next Thursday, the children in Reception will be visiting Abbey House Museum. RK will be going in the morning and RH will be going in the afternoon. The children do not require a packed lunch and they’re to wear their school uniforms.
