Nursery trip 1 to Harlow Carr

Friday 13th July | 1 comment

We had an absolutely fantastic day out at Harlow Carr yesterday. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold! We did lots of hunting for mini-beasts. We swept our nets over the top of the long grass and then we put the caught mini-beasts in to a magnifying pot. We found moths, grasshoppers and lots more. We then went pond dipping and the children and adults were amazed at what we caught – baby newts, adult newt, water boatman’s, ramshorn and pond snails and phantom midge larva. After all our detective work we had a picnic lunch followed by lots of physical activity. Thank you to all our parent helpers, you were fantastic!

Vanshika enjoyed her trip to Harlow Carr. She told us all about the big newt she caught in the fishing net from the pond. She said it was so so big.
