We’ve had another busy week and the heat hasn’t been slowing us down.
We have been learning about what happens at the seaside as many children have been to the seaside recently. We have been developing the children’s language by thinking about descriptions for the seaside, thinking about what we can see, hear and smell. The children looked at some pictures of our class bear, JoJo on the beach and she had sent the children postcards. The children then had a go at writing their own postcards.
In maths, we have been practising counting in 10s. We have used equipment to show the value of the 10s and have been counting alongside Numicon 10 pieces to help the children understand what happens when you keep adding tens.
We have also been looking at months of the year and days of the week as the children have been playing with the new calendars and diaries in the classroom.
Yesterday, we had our class ‘Dojo time’. This is a short amount of time on a Friday when the children get to have a treat for positive behaviours throughout the week. This week, the children wanted to go to the park. Next week, the children will be writing a recount of what they did at the park.
