Hot, hot, hot in Nursery!
Friday 29th June | 5 comments
Well it’s been a hot week in Nursery so it was very fortuitous that someone wanted a pool party! We have also been learning the letter sound o, creating repeating patterns, counting, playing games, writing stories, building, ordering numbers, finding out about some animals and lots more!!
I think the highlight of the week for most of the children was our pool party. The children created signs letting everyone know the date and time. We wrote a list of all the things we needed and a letter was sent home. Before the party started we asked the children to think of some rules…
The children did well using their words to tell their friends if there was something they didn’t like. After ALL getting very wet we got dressed and enjoyed an ice lolly or ice cream.
In phonics this week we have learnt the phoneme O. The children found an octopus, orange and oval.
In maths this week we have been learning about repeating patterns. The children used coloured bricks and other objects to make repeating patterns. They then had to complete a bead pattern on the interactive whiteboard. We continue to practise counting forwards and backwards and counting the beats of a drum.
On Wednesday morning we were very lucky to meet some interesting animals that were brought in by Mrs Puddiphatt’s son Jacob. The children were able to listen about each animal as well as touch them all. There was a corn snake, leopard gecko, chameleon and royal python
The rest of the week looked like this…
Don’t forget the camp over is tomorrow, we look forward to seeing many of you there. If not enjoy the sunshine and we will see you next week.
