RF write a story

Friday 20th April | 1 comment

Welcome back to a new term!

Looking at the Communication books, you have all done lots of exciting things over the holidays and it was good to see that many of the children did their own writing. Well done!

This week we have been getting back into the swing of things and have revised many of the Phase 2 and 3 phonemes we have covered. Next week and the week after we will be learning some new sounds – ‘ear’, ‘air’, ‘ure’ and ‘er’.

In Maths we have been learning about doubling as well as revising 1 more and 1 less than a given number up to 20.

Next week is our trip to The Rainbow Factory and in preparation we have been reading many stories, talking about the different parts of a story and writing a class story. Our class story is titled ‘The Dinosaur and the Princess’. It is a whole class collaboration and the ideas from the children were very traditional! We printed the story and designed front covers. Then we made our story into a book. The children are very proud of their work. Some children have begun to write their own stories and it would be lovely if you could encourage them to write at home as well. We will be writing more stories next week.

As the weather is getting warmer and people are thinking about working in their gardens we are trying to improve our outdoor are by planting bedding plants.  We would be grateful for any spare bedding plants and plant pots to help us brighten up our outside environment.

Have a good weekend, from the RF team.

I saw some super ‘big writing’ in RF on Friday and there was some lovely cursive letter formation on show.
