Lots of news from Nursery…

Apologies for the lack of blog posts this was due to technical difficulties. We now have a new look blog page!
The last time we blogged the children had been reading the book ‘We’re Going On a Picnic’. They had planned a healthy picnic and planned games. Some children helped us buy some supplies from Asda. They then prepared all their food and drinks. We searched high and low for the perfect picnic spot. We enjoyed the food then played lots of games. I think we need to practice the game hide and seek! (I wonder if you can understand why from the photos!).
Since the picnic we started to learn about the Olympics. Before we did I asked the children what they thought they were and none of them knew. Once we talked about it a bit they started to understand all the events that take place. The only difficulty they had was they were expecting to do show jumping and swimming on Sports Day! We found where Brazil was on the map and found out about what the country is like. We also talked about a boy who used to come to our school- Nile Wilson and the fact he is competing in the Rio Olympics. We watched videos of some of the gymnastics he will be doing and the children gasped at how strong he is.
To keep in line with our healthy eating we also thought about exercise. We decided to have a ‘Farsley Farfield Olympic Training Gym’. The children thought of some exercises and training they needed to do – sit ups, press ups and cycling. We also have a trampoline, balance beam and ribbons (dancing). They are doing really well and keeping fit.
Over the last couple of weeks we have been doing regularly visits to the Reception classes to help the children get used to their new environment. They all seem very excited about starting in September.
Don’t forget school doesn’t finish for the summer until Wednesday 27th July.
