Hungry caterpillars in Nursery…
Monday 9th May | No comments yet
This week we are reading the book ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle.
We are eagerly waiting for some real caterpillars to arrive. The children will then have the opportunity to watch them get bigger and bigger, build cocoons and hopefully see some beautiful butterflies. In the areas of provision, the children will hunt for caterpillar numbers in the sand, play in green water, make a moving caterpillar, make holes in leaves to thread and have a go at making long and short caterpillars using green play dough. We have a plant and caterpillar observation area where the children can use the magnifying glasses to look at and draw what they see. The children will also be making some natural art pictures using shoe box lids.
As the weather gets warmer, please make sure your child has sun cream applied before coming to school and suitable headwear.
Don’t forget our trip to Harlow Carr is on Wednesday 8th June. If you need another copy of the letter then please let us know. We do need plenty of adult helpers to help make this trip viable.
Stay and Count
Don’t forget every Wednesday from 8.45-9.15 and 12.30-1pm is Stay and Count: lots of fun mathematics games to play with your child. Everyone welcome.
Have a great week, fingers crossed the sunshine lasts.
