This week in Reception!

What a busy week ahead in Reception…..

This week we are continuing with our new ‘growing’ topic and are focusing on the life cycle of a butterfly. We will be sequencing the life cycle, looking at Monarch butterflies and making the life cycle out of pasta pieces! We have had a special delivery of caterpillars today. Take a look in RC’s classroom where the caterpillars will be living. We will also be reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We will be making our own moving caterpillars, writing our own Hungry Caterpillar stories and writing a list of things we would like to eat if we were The Hungry Caterpillar! Our new tricky word this week is ‘all’.
In our maths lessons this week we are continuing to focus on Subtraction. We will be solving practical subtraction problems, using number lines to count back and finding how many are left over. Why not ask your child how we subtract at home!?
RF’s trip to Farfield Farm this Thursday
RF are going to be visiting our school farm this Thursday! Please can you send your child into school with wellie boots? RC will be visiting the farm next Thursday.
RC’s S Factor
This morning in RC we had some FANTASTIC science experiments!! The children were all able to talk confidently about what their experiment was about, how they made it and what happened. Thank you very much for all your hard work! Take a look at the pictures below to see the experiments in action! A winner will be chosen this week and will show their experiment in an assembly this Friday with other winners from other classes.
