Welcome back to the final term in Reception! We hope all the children had a good break. They have already shown that they are ready to continue with their learning.
In Literacy this week the children will be writing sentences. RC will be writing about their trip to Rodley Nature Reserve which takes place tomorrow and RF will be writing about Percy the Park Keeper. The children will also have the opportunity to understand how to use non-fiction books and learn about the key features of these books. In RC’s classroom the children will be able to read non-fiction books and in RF there are plenty of Percy the Park keeper stories to read.

The children will be practising their subtraction skills in Numeracy. They will learn to understand that subtraction means to take away an amount from another amount. They will have experience of using a number line to help them with subtraction and to count back. The children will be continuing to count forwards and backwards from a given number as well as saying what is 1 more or 1 less than a given number.

There are two new role play areas under construction this week. RC are having a garden centre and in RF there will be Percy the Park Keeper’s hut. The children are very excited and the areas will be ready for playing in very soon.

Have a good week, from the Reception team.

The new role play areas sound really exciting, is there anything needed for them? Charlie was looking forward to coming back to school and is excited about the trip tomorrow – particulary pond dipping and his lunch!

Charlie seems to love working with numbers!

Final term in reception… wow that has gone quick!!!
I agree the new area’s sound fab and a lot of fun. We do a lot of gardening at home, including growing our own fruit and veg so I think Olivia is going to really enjoy this terms topic. Keep up that great work reception!
