The children have had a fun packed week. Not only did they go on their 2nd school trip to meet ‘Gerald the Gingerbread Man’ they also did lots of great learning. We have read different versions of the story this week and the children are starting to join in with the well known lines Run, run as fast as you can…”
We have designed our own gingerbread men using coloured pencils and pens. All the children enjoyed baking a gingerbread man and eating it!!! The nursery children have tried hard to develop their fine motor skills by sewing around a gingerbread man and placing buttons on to the gingerbread men using tweezers.

What an exciting trip to Pudsey Police Station! The children behaved very well – despite being a little soggy!!
We were shown around the cells, looked at where the police officers take fingerprints, got to try on special uniforms, saw all the special security cameras, went into to the ‘interview rooms’ and much, much more. Thank you so much to Pudsey Police Station who were very kind to show us around. The children had a great time and now lots more about what its like in a Police Station and what it’s like to be a Police Officer. Has your child talked about the trip today?
Thank you very much to the adults who came with us to help!
Take a look at some of the pictures below to see what we got up to …..

The Nursery children have had a super trip today to Abbey House. We had to wear special hats and follow the glittery footprints of Gerald the Gingerbread Man so we could find him. On the way we had to sing some nursery rhymes. We also made some hats and decorated a jelly.
The children did some super listening and behaved beautifully. Thank you to everyone who helped us today – you were brilliant!!

Today we had a very exciting assembly! A juggler came in to show us some amazing tricks. We were also talking about our new ethos statement: We can learn from our mistakes. Mr Tiffany told us that he had to make lots of mistakes before he could juggle 7 balls and it took him many years to learn how. In Reception we try and remember that we don’t say “We can’t do it” we say “We can’t do it yet!”. Thank you Mr Tiffany!

This week in Nursery we are reading the story of the ‘Gingerbread Man’. We are encouraging the children to act out the story and join in with the repeated phrases.
We are of course making our own delicious gingerbread men, designing our own and practising our fine motor skills by sewing one! In between all of this hard work we will be listening to the story a number of times.
We continue to practise our counting and number recognition.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered for Wednesday’s trip. We are sure the children are going to have a great time and will have plenty to occupy them.
Stay and Read
As we are out on a trip on Wednesday Stay and Read will continue next Wednesday.
Last week the children talked about how to be a good citizen. This week we will be looking at ‘I can be happy’. We will talk about what makes us, our friends and family happy.
Have a great week!

Another busy and exciting week ahead!
This week we are visiting Pudsey Police station to find out how they help us. If any parent with a child in RF can help with our visit on Wednesday please speak to Mrs Fulton. Before our visit we will be learning all about the police force and their job. We are going to be making wanted posters and labelling a picture of a police officer. The children will also be trying to thing of describing words to use.
In Numeracy we are continuing to count up to 50 and down from 20 to 0. The children will be practising counting in 2’s and looking at how houses are numbered on a street.
Thank you to all the parents who have commented on the observations on Tapestry. Don’t forget there are information sessions this week if you are not quite sure how it works.
Have a good week, from all the Reception staff.

The children have listened to the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears and have helped adults in the bears well known phrases. They even managed different voices for the 3 bears! We have been busy making beds for all the different size of bears.
Something awful happened….somebody broke a chair in Nursery! The children have been working hard to find clues and their evidence led to it being Goldilocks. They used the iPads to take photos of clues and made notes on their clipboards. The children had to think of ways to help her become a good citizen!
